Weekend Retreats
unplug, breathe, and rediscover the rhythm of the wild on our immersive camping retreat
What to Expect:
Time: Friday evening, arrival between 4:00pm-6:00pm, through Sunday at 3:00pm.
Where: Devil’s Lake State Park group campsite. Participants are responsible for their own transportation, and may need to purchase a vehicle admission pass to park within the State Park. Specifics, including parking lot locations, will be included in event sign ups.
Who: A maximum of 8 and minimum of 6 participants, with 2 facilitators. All involved will be women/femme+ individuals 18 years or older.
What: Escape for a weekend and join us on a two night camping retreat and allow yourself to anchor in the present, restore clarity, and move with calm purpose beneath the open skies. Participants will connect with nature through camping, rock climbing, swimming, hiking, yoga, and/or paddling, all while participating in wellness based group practices. These practices may include: learning how to notice and name emotions that arise throughout the weekend, such as anxiety, and excitement, as well as skills to manage and move through those emotions. Participants may also learn how to complete body scans, breathing exercises, and grounding with our senses. Focus will be on learning to trust our bodies and minds while in stressful and/or new situations, communicating those experiences to others, and supporting each other through challenges. Emphasis on positive self-talk, leaning into confidence, and embodying resilience will be present throughout the day. Participants will engage in Challenge by Choice — everyone gets to choose how hard to push themselves and which challenges to partake in. Connection around the camp fire, nature-based art activities, and story sharing will also be included.
No prior experience required, though participants should be physically prepared for an intermediate level of physical excursion throughout the weekend. Plenty of breaks and independent time will be available.
Gear: Participants are responsible for providing their own tent, sleeping gear, and mess kit (bowl and utensils). Soul to Summit will provide all paddling gear and yoga mats, and the hired rock climbing guide service will provide all climbing equipment. You may bring your own equipment that is otherwise provided, but it will be inspected prior to use to ensure safety.
Food: Soul to Summit will provide dinner on Friday and Saturday nights, breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday mornings, and lunch on Saturday afternoon. Some snacks will also be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring any extra or special snacks they might enjoy for themselves throughout the weekend.
Items to bring:
Participants should bring their own water bottles (2 liters), a journal and a backpack comfortable and large enough to carry them for the duration of each activity. You may also want to bring a book, headlamp, and power bank. Electronics are allowed, but are discouraged from use during intentional group activities. Closed toe shoes are required. A formal packing list will be sent out prior to the event.
